During the past 18 years, I’ve been in the fortunate position to witness the impact our therapies have on a patient’s life many times. You never really get used to it, these moments are humbling, rewarding and energizing at the same time.
Before I joined our company in 1992, I was told that Medtronic was a really "high-tech" company with standards even beyond aerospace or NASA. This sounded like a challenge to me! I have to say that to this day I am still impressed by our products, technology and our hunger for continuous innovation.
Medtronic offers an environment where you can take charge of your individual development. I’ve had quite a varied career within Medtronic thus far: I started as an engineer, then I managed the R&D department through various different phases of maturity and now, for the last six months, I’m heading our CardioVascular site in Kerkrade as Director Manufacturing. This very customer-focused team inspires me; even now, I am learning new things every day.
During the past 18 years, I’ve been in the fortunate position to witness the impact our therapies have on a patient’s life on many occasions. I’ve been in the operating room with a patient who finally could manage his chronic pain, I’ve visited a neonatal ward to customize our products for premature babies, who needed them to survive, I’ve received thank you letters from patients… I could go on and on, but you never really get used to it. These moments are humbling, rewarding and energizing at the same time.
